Madeleine Jane Seguin, a long-time resident of Fort Lauderdale, passed away Saturday, September 29 at home.

Born in Martinique to Germaine and Paul Chomereau-Lamotte, Madeleine arrived in the United States in 1944 and worked at the newly established French Embassy in Washington D.C. for 33 years. She married Germain J. Seguin on January 26, 1946. The couple had two children, Marie-Christine and Francis Eugene and settled in Alexandria, Virginia until 1977, when she retired to Fort Lauderdale.

Madeleine Jane Seguin, a long-time resident of Fort Lauderdale, passed away Saturday, September 29 at home.

Born in Martinique to Germaine and Paul Chomereau-Lamotte, Madeleine arrived in the United States in 1944 and worked at the newly established French Embassy in Washington D.C. for 33 years. She married Germain J. Seguin on January 26, 1946. The couple had two children, Marie-Christine and Francis Eugene and settled in Alexandria, Virginia until 1977, when she retired to Fort Lauderdale.

"Madou" as she was known by family and friends, loved to entertain at her homes in Ft. Lauderdale and Key Largo and was an accomplished cook. She loved swimming and being near the ocean and preparing dishes that underscored her French and Caribbean heritage.

She leaves behind her husband of 71 years, her children, Christine (Craig) and Francis (Rosemarie) seven grandchildren: Lisa Lotts, Martina Gonzalez, Cameron Hudson, Alexis Seguin, Katrina Ramirez, Nicolas Seguin and Francesca Seguin and great-grandchildren: Emily Larson; Carter and Palmer Hudson; Christian and Avery Gonzalez; Sebastian, Evelyn and Cecilia Seguin; and Audrey Seguin.

Funeral Mass, Tuesday, October 3, 2017 the mass will be held at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 2000 Marietta Avenue ( SE 25th Avenue), Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316. Entombment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dementia Society of America. Arrangements were made by: Kraeer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 200 N.
